Join the Government of B.C. Stack Overflow group. Here, you can ask and answer questions, and support your colleagues in the B.C. government developer community.
The Government of B.C. Stack Overflow group is a private space just for B.C. public service developers and other technical roles. It’s a community-based group for developers, supported by developers within the government, working on projects across the B.C. public service.
How to join
You can join the Government of B.C. Stack Overflow group with your IDIR or GitHub account. Simply go to the B.C. Government Stack Overflow login page and choose which credentials you want to login with. Please join with only one of these accounts, as the Developer Experience team pays for licenses for each user account.
If you already have a Stack Overflow account
Because the Government of B.C. Stack Overflow group is private, you can’t access it with an existing personal Stack Overflow account. You need to create a new account using your IDIR or GitHub credentials.
Use your real name
When creating your Stack Overflow account, you must use your real name. This encourages a safe and respectful environment for all users. In your profile, you must also include your:
- Job title
- Team
- Rocket.Chat username, if you have one

If you want to have a record of your answer for you and others to reference in the future, use Stack Overflow. Rocket.Chat is built like a feed, and your question will become less visible as new questions are posted.
If you ask a question in Stack Overflow, but aren’t getting an answer fast enough, post a link to your question in Rocket.Chat.
